Everywhere we look it seems that the world is falling apart. Whether or not you see it that way can be determined by many factors. Your beliefs, your upbringing, your news and information sources. Many of these factors influence our everyday views on what life does or should look like.
There are so many things going on in the world that can be looked at as negative. So many things that we could say are depressing, bad and worrisome. Doesn’t it seem that those things are all we see? I think most would agree that no matter where you turn, you will find a pessimistic view of the world. Our avenues of information are constantly bombarding us with negative information. The enemy has a very crafty way of turning things to his favor.
With a constant negative view of the world, it is easy to lose hope. When we lose hope, our general outlook becomes depressing. This is a dangerous place to be. The Bible says that Satan “prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour” 1 Peter 5:8. If this is the case, wouldn’t it make sense that he constantly roams and looks for places to cause trouble? We know from the garden that Satan was more “crafty than any other beast of the field that God has made” Genesis 3:1. Gods own Word talks about Satan’s ability to deceive. What better way to deceive than to make us think there is no hope? Thankfully, the Bible tells us differently. The Bible speaks of our hope as being in Jesus.
As believers in Christ, we believe in the hope of who Jesus is, not who he was. Jesus is alive and his spirit dwells within us. This is truly remarkable. Think about the contrast here and ask yourself where you put your trust, God himself or Satan? The author of lies or the maker of truth? The Creator of everything or the deceiver of many? Find hope in what we have, a living Savior, he is enough!!
