What a wonderful time of year we are in. The Holiday season is either here for you now or quickly approaching. Cooler weather brings the chill of a new season and the anticipation of good things to come. We look forward to times of fellowship, friends and family.
As we look forward to the Holidays with joy, we are thankful for what we have. God’s blessings are overwhelming in their vastness and meaning. As we anticipate the days ahead imagine a very young Mother, innocent in the world, carrying the most important gift ever given to man. This young girl tasked with the greatest responsibility of caring for herself and making sure that the baby inside of her was taken care of even before it was born. The young girl had been told who this Child would be. She knew she was chosen by God to carry this great gift.
We anticipate the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons with joy but imagine the joy in the heart of Mary, coming toward the end of her pregnancy, about to give birth to the King of Kings. It would be hard to fathom the emotions she was feeling. Happiness, anxiety, fear, LOVE… Any of those would be natural from the stand point of any pregnancy but this young girl was carrying the Messiah, the child who would become the Savior of the world. As each day passed, she would come closer and closer to fulfilling the will of God himself. The Creator of everything had now given her the privilege of carrying his own son.
As our own anticipation builds getting closer to the Christmas season, let us take time to thank God not only for what we have, but what we have been given, forgiveness, redemption and eternal life through his son Jesus Christ. Let us always live in his light and shine his light on those around us.
